Module Discussion:Bio::SearchIO
From BioPerl
When I create an object of this type, I found the following example from CPAN:
my $searchio = new Bio::SearchIO( -format => 'blastxml', -file => 'blastout.xml' );
However, the list of allowed 'format codes' is not given on the CPAN page. The table of allowed formats on this page doesn't give the accompanying format codes... should I just try guessing? --DanBolser 11:54, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- There is a table of allowed formats on the Bio::SearchIO wiki page (for which this page is the discussion). There's also the SearchIO HOWTO. --Dave Messina 12:42, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Dave. its only on that page if you know what you are looking for (uber-noob here). Its not at all obvious that the format code should match the module name. I added a link to the howto too. --DanBolser 15:16, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Great, Dan, thanks so much for making it explicit! Always better for it to be as clear as possible. --Dave Messina 15:23, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
