HOWTO Discussion:EUtilities Cookbook

Please excuse my lack of Perl foo but how do you get the user agent to set proxy stuff?

  • There are two ways: you can set them by setting the environment variable HTTP_PROXY (CGI_HTTP_PROXY if you are using CGI), or set them explicitly using the object methods proxy() and/or authentication(). The first is preferred. Note I haven't had a chance to extensively test these using the newer API, but the last version of EUtilities worked using env. proxy (and this version just recycles those methods, so it theoretically should work). --Chris Fields 20:27, 8 July 2007 (EDT)

Note the code on the EUtilities HOWTO pages refers to the latest from bioperl-live and NOT from bioperl 1.5.2 (see the note at the top of the page). The API has changed quite radically since 1.5.2. --Chris Fields 11:56, 22 January 2008 (EST)

Would be nice to have a link to the Entrez Utilities [1] near the top of this entry. Phillip SanMiguel --Pmiguel 11:30, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
