Concurrent Versions System or CVS was a key innovation in distributed software development. CVS was used at BioPerl until January 2008, when the project to switched to Subversion. For downloading the latest (not necessarily tested) BioPerl code see this page. The old (now deprecated) CVS instructions for the BioPerl project can be found here.
